I was folded sharp and clean In a pocket warm unseen Kanji brushstrokes blue ballpoint Now I'm pulp at alley joint Vending machines hum a low key Salaryman missed the last train Ink bleeds out like watercolors Address dissolves by degrees Undelivered soaked in Shinjuku rain No hands to unfold me no fingers to stain Neon reflects in my watermarked skin The message inside stays locked within A stamp drowned deep a postmark erased Tokyo midnight beautifully displaced Convenience glow paints me blue Onigiri wrapper stuck like glue Stray cat sniffs perforated edge Walks off past the bamboo hedge Train rumble shakes the cobblestones My paper fibers groan and moan The sender's scent of cheap perfume Fades beneath the exhaust fumes Undelivered soaked in Shinjuku rain No hands to unfold me no fingers to stain Neon reflects in my watermarked skin The message inside stays locked within A stamp drowned deep a postmark erased Tokyo midnight beautifully displaced A drunk salaryman kicks my side I flutter once nowhere to hide His umbrella ribs click shut above No kindness left no love no love ISO sixteen hundred grain Capture this the joy the pain Not a metaphor just cellulose Waiting for a hand to bless Shutter clicks the flash fires bright Developing in alley light Undelivered soaked in Shinjuku rain No hands to unfold me no fingers to stain Neon reflects in my watermarked skin The message inside stays locked within A stamp drowned deep a postmark erased Tokyo midnight beautifully displaced Dawn cracks grey on power lines My edges curl like drying vines The ink is now a Rorschach test No recipient no final rest Undelivered soaked in Shinjuku rain No hands to unfold me no fingers to stain Neon reflects in my watermarked skin The message inside stays locked within A stamp drowned deep a postmark erased Tokyo dawn breaks beautifully displaced Shutter clicks the roll ends here Negative develops clear
