Track Insight / Lyrics

Steel boots on a narrow beam Life feels like a heavy dream Fog wraps round the rusted rail Winter wind begins to wail He hums a tune for the cold night air Walking a line with a steady stare High above the yard where the engines sleep A secret promise that he has to keep Oil stains on a canvas coat Numbers written on a note Copper cables hum a song Where the lonely men belong Coffee steam in a plastic cup Wait for the morning sun to wake up Iron giants cast a frozen glow While the heavy river flows below He hums a tune for the cold night air Walking a line with a steady stare High above the yard where the engines sleep A secret promise that he has to keep One wrong step in the misty white Turning the world into endless night Hold the breath and feel the metal shake Counting every single choice he'll make Cold wind bites through a woolen glove Looking for a signal from above The rail yard breathes a heavy sigh Underneath a charcoal colored sky He hums a tune for the cold night air Walking a line with a steady stare High above the yard where the engines sleep A secret promise that he has to keep Just a ghost on a silver wire Higher than the city fire High above the gray.
