Track Insight / Lyrics
Rain hammers porch boards hard and fast
Click the switch, the die is cast
Yellow cone cuts through the sheet
Wood grain glistens at my feet
Steady beam holds darkness back
Steady beam on splintered pine
Holding back the rain's hard line
Battery heart beats low and slow
I'm the only light you know
Steady beam, don't let it go
Thunder rattles window glass
Beam won't flinch, it won't pass
Circuit hum where currents sleep
Warmth that promised light to keep
Steady beam holds darkness back
Hands that held me knew the scale
Breath held long behind the veil
Alto voice in morning prayer
Taught me how to hold the air
Steady beam holds darkness back
Steady beam on splintered pine
Holding back the rain's hard line
Battery heart beats low and slow
I'm the only light you know
Steady beam, don't let it go
Dawn bleeds grey across the sky
Rain turns thin and starts to dry
Switch clicks off, the duty done
Resting till the next storm comes
Holster leather, worn and smooth
Dreams of rain and porch board groove
Next dark night I'll click alive
Steady beam helps wood survive
Steady beam holds darkness back
Steady beam on splintered pine
Holding back the rain's hard line
Battery heart beats low and slow
I'm the only light you know
Steady beam, don't let it go
Steady beam, steady beam
Click off, rest now, steady beam
Morning takes the steady beam
