Track Insight / Lyrics

I trimmed wicks through forty winters Salt crusted on my callused fingers Lamp glass shook when gales would thunder Now I watch the mesa smolder Click the shutter hold the light Silver halide catches night Salt and sand in identical grain Develop slow in desert rain Leather case cracked by UV baking Lens cap lost to canyon shaking Aperture stuck at f-two-eight Waiting for the decisive wait Click the shutter hold the light Silver halide catches night Salt and sand in identical grain Develop slow in desert rain I know the rhythm of the tide How moon pulls water open wide This dust moves different slow and deep A darker ocean I don't keep Click the shutter hold the light Silver halide catches night Salt and sand in identical grain Develop slow in desert rain Wind writes scripts on sandstone faces Erases all the human traces One frame left on roll twelve I'll shoot the shadow of myself Click the shutter hold the light Silver halide catches night Salt and sand in identical grain Develop slow in desert rain Click the shutter hold the light Silver halide catches night Salt and sand in identical grain Develop slow in desert rain Negative waits in the heat Negative waits in the heat
