Track Insight / Lyrics

Midnight coffee steams on cracked porcelain Grease stains map the counter like old charts Radio crackles static no orders tonight Just me and the tide rolling through the screen Parking lines fade like scales on weathered hull Speaker poles stand like buoys dull and full I cast my line where the projector threw its glow Hook sinks deep where the silver screens used to show Reel tides pull me through the broken gate Reel tides whisper what the marquee ate No ticket stub for the catch I seek Just salt and rust on a silver streak Weeds choke the ramp where tires used to sing Snack bar window gapes like a gutted thing I bait my hook with a strip of celluloid Hoping for a bite from the stories void Reel tides pull me through the broken gate Reel tides whisper what the marquee ate No ticket stub for the catch I seek Just salt and rust on a silver streak Moonlight paints the screen in phosphorescent hue Each ripple a frame from a forgotten crew I feel the tug of a plot twist deep below A nitrate monster on the line I know Reel tides pull me through the broken gate Reel tides whisper what the marquee ate No ticket stub for the catch I seek Just salt and rust on a silver streak The manager's ghost flips burgers on the grill Says son you're fishing where the time stands still I nod adjust my drag let the line run free The best catch is the one that sets you free Dawn cracks the horizon like a fresh egg yolk Reel sings sweet as the morning shift talk I haul in a reel of blank white leader tape Wrap it round my wrist a silver cape Reel tides pull me through the broken gate Reel tides whisper what the marquee ate No ticket stub for the catch I seek Just salt and rust on a silver streak Coffee cold but the catch is warm and real Drive-in dawn serves the meal I steal Reel tides settle in the palm of my hand Another shift done on this liquid land
