Track Insight / Lyrics
Stood here all night, ferry nearing dawn
Laundry spools turn, water swirls to foam
Each step I take, another load complete
Gear whispers, steam rises, the world retreats
In the still, the neon runs in streaks by
Midnight's warmth, the rain, my thoughts drift high
Weathering this night, heartbeat in my shoe
Continuous rhythm, the world's anew
Footsteps on the deck, rhythm of the wash
Counting through the rain, till I reach the past
13, 14, 15 – piles shrink, the job's almost done
Cumbersome bags fold, the task, now won
As I'm lost in thought, a flash of red appears
A late-night love note tucked 'mong the sweat-stained tees
In the still, the neon runs in streaks by
Midnight's warmth, the rain, my thoughts drift high
Weathering this night, heartbeat in my shoe
Continuous rhythm, the world's anew
Footsteps on the deck, rhythm of the wash
Counting through the rain, till I reach the past
Time escapes like water, lost in the flood
As I relive each step toward where I'm stood
The stairs creak, the deck hardly discernible
Through the rain, I see my younger self, wistful
Weathering this night, heartbeat in my shoe
Continuous rhythm, the world's anew
Footsteps on the deck, rhythm of the wash
Counting through the rain, till I reach the past
Rain dwindling, dawn seeping through the cracks
The job is done, the washroom's empty, dark
By the light of day, I rediscover me
Rainy night watch done, I'm finally set free.
