Track Insight / Lyrics
In the shelter of your wooden porch
From the wind and driving rain
A tiny moth with wings of pale
Waiting out the storm's prance
Flashes of lightning momentarily highlight
The chafed elastics, threadbare frays
Of my worn wings that prune and split
In the damp, relentless stormy ways
But this wooden sanctuary holds me strong
Cradles me where LED lights glow
Abeego wrap of layered fibers keep
Me dry and safe from the gathering woe
Phoenix rising, skeletal wings unfurl
Casting off the husk, reborn to whirl
Insects shivering in leaf litter listen near
As I take to the air, shedding my dread and fear
Emerging, tentative, I dance in puddled sheen
Drink in the raindrop diamond reflection's glow
Until the drumbeat thunder summons me to take flight
I stretch my wings and catapult into the open sky's route
But this wooden sanctuary holds me strong
Cradles me where LED lights glow
Abeego wrap of layered fibers keep
Me dry and safe from the gathering woe
Phoenix rising, skeletal wings unfurl
Casting off the husk, reborn to whirl
Insects shivering in leaf litter listen near
As I take to the air, shedding my dread and fear
Turbulent gusts may whip me left and right
Tossing me in eddies without a guide
But I'll ride these tempests to freedom's door
Unmarred, unfazed, a moth resolved anew
Phoenix rising, skeletal wings unfurl
Casting off the husk, reborn to whirl
Insects shivering in leaf litter listen near
As I take to the air, shedding my dread and fear
Under starry skies, I alight upon
Your wooden porch, once more out of the fight
Tucking my wings, I'll ride out the lull
Until storm's break gives wings the cue to pull.
