Track Insight / Lyrics
In the shadow of your neon light
Where rain whispers your name tonight
A secret kept beneath your skullcap crown
Guarded in the palm of my hand now
Raindrop serenade in the Santa Fe night
My fingers traced the curves of a letter in flight
For you the miles stretched out
like a highway to the stars
A missive carrying the echoes of our love scars
If time could bend and twist
like the arroyos in the dark
I'd ride the winds to find my way to where you are
Every word a crumpled rose, every sentence a plea
To keep us close 'neath this desert sky
Nightfall whispers all the things unsaid
A desert secret bides its time in my head
Until we meet again, Psr New Mexico time
And let our lips unite the lines
Somewhere out there a motel clock ticks away
Each chime a heartbeat 'neath the cacti gray
My letter waits with our story, sealed and unconfirmed
A promise of a rendezvous in the neon-toned dawn
If time could bend and twist
like the arroyos in the dark
I'd ride the winds to find
my way to where you are
Every word a crumpled rose, every sentence a plea
To keep us close 'neath this desert sky
Nightfall whispers all the things unsaid
A desert secret bides its time in my head
Until we meet again, Psr New Mexico time
And let our lips unite the lines
Will I find you there, beside the desert pool
As the neon cowboys beckon with their mystic cool?
Or will the dawn break on an empty motel bed?
My love, I'll ride the night and find my way to you instead
Nightfall whispers all the things unsaid
A desert secret bides its time in my head
Until we meet again, Psr New Mexico time
And let our lips unite the lines
Until the neon fades, until the rain clears away
I'll hold on to every word, every beat of every day
In the secret of your name, beneath my heart I'll hide
The love letter sealed with love that will not subside
