Track Insight / Lyrics
Candles gutter on the stone floor
Masks of porcelain hide every face
Velvet cloaks sweep past the oak door
Cold air carries a ghostly grace
Midnight masquerade, shadows waltz in velvet shade
Midnight masquerade, the night is not afraid
Pipe organ moans, the brass hits bright
We dance until the morning light
Silver chalices hold red wine
Laughter rings from the balcony
Clocks have stopped at the stroke of nine
No one sees the time slip by
Masks slip down to taste the air
Faces pale in candle glow
A hymn half-remembered, a prayer
Only altos seem to know
Midnight masquerade, shadows waltz in velvet shade
Midnight masquerade, the night is not afraid
Pipe organ moans, the brass hits bright
We dance until the morning light
The music drops to a single note
A held breath in the vaulted ceiling
Then the bass returns to rock the boat
Hearts align with the heavy feeling
Dawn creeps in through stained glass panes
Velvet cloaks fold into the mist
The hall remembers all the names
Of those who danced and those who kissed
Midnight masquerade, shadows waltz in velvet shade
Midnight masquerade, the night is not afraid
Pipe organ moans, the brass hits bright
We dance until the morning light
Midnight masquerade, forever in the night
Organ fades, the last chord dies
Midnight masquerade, the spell unties
