Track Insight / Lyrics

Old keeper watches from his rocking chair Salt air memories drift through desert air He reads the wind like waves on stone This motel porch becomes his own Leather logbook on the veranda Pages dry as desert sand Leather logbook waits for morning Holding tales of sea and land Brass stabs cut the morning heat Slide guitar sings low and sweet Harmonica breathes a bluesy prayer Keeper nods in his wooden chair Notebook pages filled with latitude Longitude and altitude Storm logs written in faded ink Now he reads them blinks and thinks Leather logbook on the veranda Pages dry as desert sand Leather logbook waits for morning Holding tales of sea and land Hammond organ swells like tide Keeper stands his legs wide He touches cover worn and brown Desert silence ocean sound Santa Fe sun climbs high and pale Keeper writes a final tale Not the sea but sand and sky Logbook closed a lullaby Leather logbook on the veranda Pages dry as desert sand Leather logbook waits for morning Holding tales of sea and land Dust settles on the leather cover Keeper dreams of waves to discover
