Track Insight / Lyrics

Cracked spine slides on cold tile floor Midnight wind blows through the turnstile door Pages flutter like hash brown crisp Searching tunnels in the final wisp Leather breathes in stainless steel air No train comes but it don't despair Ink remembers every hand held tight Glowing soft in platform night Coffee rings stain the inside cover Like the mugs of every late-night lover Ticket stubs tucked in page forty-three Memory of rides that used to be Leather breathes in stainless steel air No train comes but it don't despair Ink remembers every hand held tight Glowing soft in platform night Rat scurries past but leaves it alone Respects the weight of words unknown Fluorescent flicker buzzing overhead Notebook waits for morning spread Leather breathes in stainless steel air No train comes but it don't despair Ink remembers every hand held tight Glowing soft in platform night Janitor sweeps in tired arcs Leather hides from morning sparks Broom bristles kiss the yellow line Stories sleep in borrowed time Dawn creeps in on rubber wheels First commuter steps on steel heels Cover opens pages turn Stories wait for eyes to learn Young fingers trace the embossed name Owner gone but not the same Writes new line in morning blue Morning rush pulls sudden through Leather breathes in stainless steel air No train came but it don't despair Ink remembers every hand held tight Glowing bright in morning light Platform empty job well done Leather rests till midnight comes
