Track Insight / Lyrics

I wait in the bag where the fry cook throws keys The waitress asks honey you want cheese Silver halide dreams in a paper sleeve I watch the night shift pack up and leave [Pre- Steam rises up from a chipped white cup The trucker counts coins head bent low My aperture wide but the light gives up No frame to catch what the shadows know Latent image sleeping in the dark Diner booth confessions a fading mark No developer bath no fixing tray Just grain and ghost in the light of day The jukebox skips on a scratched 45 The cook flips a burger keeps time alive My film advance lever won't survive The night waits for morning to arrive [Pre- Steam rises up from a chipped white cup The trucker counts coins head bent low My aperture wide but the light gives up No frame to catch what the shadows know Latent image sleeping in the dark Diner booth confessions a fading mark No developer bath no fixing tray Just grain and ghost in the light of day A couple argues in booth number three He slides a ring on the Formica top I'd capture the tear but I'm blind you see My lens stays capped I cannot stop I once rode a Greyhound to the coast Sunlight burst through dirty glass Caught a wave a laugh a toast Now I'm trash in a vinyl mass Latent image sleeping in the dark Diner booth confessions a fading mark No developer bath no fixing tray Just grain and ghost in the light of day The neon flickers buzzing its last song The waitress wipes down the stainless steel I've been forgotten here all night long Waiting for a hand to make me real Latent image sleeping in the dark Diner booth confessions a fading mark No developer bath no fixing tray Just grain and ghost in the light of day Latent image waiting for the scan Shutter sleeps the film holds its breath Dawn breaks the diner's fluorescent death
