You board the last bus downtown
Camera strap cuts neck skin
Pumpkin grins on porch steps frown
Skeleton keys turn locks in
Wind bites fingers through wool gloves
Breath clouds vanish streetlamp orange
Shutter snaps what the eye loves
Black water holds a strange exchange
Lantern puddles mirror flame
Jack-o-lanterns drown in rain
Costume masks melt into faces
You capture what the night erases
Lantern puddles mirror flame
Halloween rewrites your name
Witch hats tilt on cracked sidewalk
Candy corn spills from torn bags
Black cat arches backbone talk
Raven watches from dead flags
Wind bites fingers through wool gloves
Breath clouds vanish streetlamp orange
Shutter snaps what the eye loves
Black water holds a strange exchange
Lantern puddles mirror flame
Jack-o-lanterns drown in rain
Costume masks melt into faces
You capture what the night erases
Lantern puddles mirror flame
Halloween rewrites your name
Cobwebbed gates creak open slow
Bone-white fingers beckon near
Crypt doors breathe a cold hello
You focus close on frozen fear
Film advances frame by frame
Each click a heartbeat in the dark
No flash just ambient claim
You're not running anymore
Lantern puddles mirror flame
Jack-o-lanterns drown in rain
Costume masks melt into faces
You capture what the night erases
Lantern puddles mirror flame
Halloween rewrites your name
Dawn bleeds gray through skeletal trees
Last bus rattles homeward bound Negatives hold mysteries
You're the girl who stays not found
Lantern puddles mirror flame
Jack-o-lanterns drown in rain
Costume masks melt into faces
You capture what the night erases
Lantern puddles mirror flame
Halloween rewrites your name
Lantern puddles mirror flame
Halloween rewrites your name
Click shutter cold autumn night
Negative develops light
