Track Insight / Lyrics
Shutter snaps the peeling paint
Dusk arrives on schedule late
Negative holds iron red
Fire escape wakes from bed
Talon grips the cold steel rung
Amber eyes trace wires hung
Wings fold slow through violet air
No rush to leave, no need to stare
Iron feathers catch the light
Iron feathers, summer night
Rust and wings on fire escape
Two drifters the city couldn't break
Bus ticket folded in my coat
Destination wrote itself, I vote
Lens finds focus in the gloom
Owl and I not alone
Iron feathers catch the light
Iron feathers, summer night
Rust and wings on fire escape
Two drifters the city couldn't break
Shutter speed and wing beat sync
Rusted ladder, missing link
Dusk to dawn and dawn to dusk
Time suspends on iron brink
Mouse scurries in the trash below
Hunger sharp, a steady glow
City hums a mechanical hymn
I've watched twenty summers dim
Morning train pulls into view
Feathers fade to gray and blue
Negative developed, picture clear
Iron feathers brought me here
Iron feathers catch the light
Iron feathers, summer night
Rust and wings on fire escape
Two drifters the city couldn't break
Iron feathers, catch the light
Negative holds. Wings take flight.
Iron feathers. Summer night.
