I fell from a hand in the breeze
Down where the Pinus sylvestris freeze
My edges are curled by the dew
Waiting for someone to read through
I drift through the needles and loam
Looking for somewhere to call home
Washed by the grey of the sky
Watching the heavy clouds fly by
The telephone poles stand in a row
Watching the cold river current flow
I cling to a root in the clay
Waiting for light to find the way
The Acer leaves cover my face
Hiding the words in a damp place
The ink starts to bleed in a blur
While the forest shadows occur
I drift through the needles and loam
Looking for somewhere to call home
Washed by the grey of the sky
Watching the heavy clouds fly by
The soil is a heavy wet bed
Where all of the secret lines tread
I hold to the hope of a hand
Lifting me out of the sand
A robin descends on the grass
Watching the slow winter hours pass
He pecks at the seal of my fold
Telling a story untold
I drift through the needles and loam
Looking for somewhere to call home
Washed by the grey of the sky
Watching the heavy clouds fly by
Ink and pine in the rain
Breaking the winter chain
Just a letter in the loam.
