Track Insight / Lyrics
In misty San Francisco nights I keep watch
Rusty can in hand, worn out but on the latch
My metal spine a Slater's streak across the planks
Where city lights a neon hush, like absent talk
I savor scenes of sailors on the docks below
Their stories splashed in sea-salt foam, ephemeral as the glow
Of distant sirens that weave into the fog
With every gust a secret, 'til the dawn is fogged
I'm a sentinel on this lonely pier post
Guarding dreams and desires as the world afloat
In the mist, my faith I hold, though empty, rusted true
My rusty soul, a beacon shines, for dreams anew
At daybreak, mist ascends, but my post I won't forsake
My vigil, all the city's din, the world's parade
For in each fleeting sight, a memory I collect
Of love, lost and yet found, secrets in the wreck
Those left behind, they'll find their way
Through city heat and neon shade
In every step a story told, a dream to unfold
In the rhythm of the city's heart, a love will start
I'm a sentinel on this lonely pier post
Guarding dreams and desires as the world afloat
In the mist, my faith I hold, though empty, rusted true
My rusty soul, a beacon shines, for dreams anew
Each drop of rust, a tale it tells
Of seasons worn and stories dealt
Yet I endure, a steadfast face
Of all that's left, of all that's at peace
I'm a sentinel on this lonely pier post
Guarding dreams and desires as the world afloat
In the mist, my faith I hold, though empty, rusted true
My rusty soul, a beacon shines, for dreams anew
As night returns in velvet shroud
My vigil ends, my watch unplowed
I'll rust once more in quiet repose
As dreams drift by like misty rose
