Track Insight / Lyrics
Seen her there by the overpass
Pale fur glowing, a shadow in the haze
Those big green eyes reflect the streetlight glow
Watching the traffic, a steady, restless flow
Highway Calico, wanderin' free
Searchin' for somethin' she can't see
A warmth, a love, a place to call her own
Just a stray cat, on a cold, lonely road
Heard the whispers in the rain
Of stories told in weary strain
Of lovers lost and dreams gone wrong
This highway sings a mournful song
Highway Calico, wanderin' free
Searchin' for somethin' she can't see
A warmth, a love, a place to call her own
Just a stray cat, on a cold, lonely road
Trucks rumble by, their headlights flare
She flinches back, caught unaware
A fleeting glance, a moment shared
Then the silence falls, the highway stares
Highway Calico, wanderin' free
Searchin' for somethin' she can't see
A warmth, a love, a place to call her own
Just a stray cat, on a cold, lonely road
Maybe tomorrow, the sun will shine
And light up her path, a brand new design
She'll find her haven, a place to stay
And leave the highway's blues far, far away
Highway Calico, no longer alone
Found a heart that welcomes her home
A warmth, a love, a place to belong
She's safe and sound, where she's always belonged
