Track Insight / Lyrics

You clip the snap to the rusted ring Dawn paints the sandstone a bloody red Six hundred feet where the hawks don't sing One misplaced boot finds the canyon bed Cable sings a low steel hymn [Pre- The glass in your hand catches fire Prism splits the morning wire Hold the beam don't let it tire You walk the wire mesa high Sun hits the glass you touch the sky No net below just canyon deep Promises you promised to keep Heat climbs the rock from the canyon floor Shakes the line like a drum of war Sweat stings your eyes salt on the hide Boots find the groove where the strands are tied Breath marks the rhythm slow and sure [Pre- The angle shifts the beam walks the stone You ride the shake you walk it alone Focus hard as a lens you own You walk the wire mesa high Sun hits the glass you touch the sky No net below just canyon deep Promises you promised to keep The mesa flashes a signal back Miles of dust catch the white hot glare No voice calls out no whistle crack Just you and the line suspended in air Shadow stretches long and bare You walk the wire mesa high Sun hits the glass you touch the sky No net below just canyon deep Promises you promised to keep Arms turn to lead the cable sings A low deep note in the midday heat Long shadow falls at your dusty feet Halfway back is a bitter sweet Platform groans as the end draws near You walk the wire mesa high Sun hits the glass you touch the sky No net below just canyon deep Promises you promised to keep Boots hit the deck off the singing wire Legs shake loose on the solid rock Sun drops low paints the canyon fire Another crossing beaten by the clock Lamp waits dark for the evening walk You walk the wire mesa high Sun hits the glass you touch the sky No net below just canyon deep Promises you promised to keep Lamp trimmed clean for the coming night Wire waits silent in cold light
