Steel frame rests on concrete bed
Where iron roots would spread instead
Third hour finds the city dead
Dreams dissolve in rusty red
He watches oxidation grow
A slow bloom in the undertow
No chlorophyll to show
Just iron bloom in sodium glow
Spokes like fronds in dormant wait
Counting vibrations, sealing fate
Iron rises, changes state
Patina coats the heavy weight
He watches oxidation grow
A slow bloom in the undertow
No chlorophyll to show
Just iron bloom in sodium glow
No photosynthesis tonight
Only darkness, synthetic light
Manganese and carbon bite
Turning silver into bloom
Train arrives with thunder sound
Shakes the loam deep underground
Empty platform, rider gone
Silence claims the rusted chrome
Handlebars like twisted vine
Grip the air in jagged line
Taxonomy of slow decline
Latin names for iron wine
He watches oxidation grow
A slow bloom in the undertow
No chlorophyll to show
Just iron bloom in sodium glow
Morning comes with halogen
Wakes the spores on chrome and tin
Cycle starts to rust again
Iron flower grows within
He watches oxidation grow
A slow bloom in the undertow
No chlorophyll to show
Just iron bloom in sodium glow
Iron bloom in sodium glow
Iron bloom grows on
