Track Insight / Lyrics
I found myself a desert motel
Pool table worn, neon glow
Then this calico cat appeared
Guarding the veranda, eyes aglow
She saw me, flicked her tail high
I'm the stranger, she'll watch me by
Furry sentinel, haughty stare
Heart open wide, love in her air
Fretting out my rented room
These New Mexico nights unfold
Across this parking lot still dark
She's my only save from lonely sparks
Tuxedo and white in sunset haze
Kitty warden of motel ways
Noami guards the neon night
From the interstate, feeling alive
Golden hues upon her back
Radiant desert, starlit track
Spotted coat with eyes so bright
Comfort in her comforting sight
She paces, shadows stretched and long
Night bugs singing, cineplex throng
Air-conditioned chill abates
Her calm proves the best of states
Fretting out my rented room
These New Mexico nights unfold
Across this parking lot still dark
She's my only save from lonely sparks
Tuxedo and white in sunset haze
Kitty warden of motel ways
Noami guards the neon night
From the interstate, feeling alive
Maybe I'll name her Noami
For the Navajo dreams I've braid in her
We're both castaways in this zone
Fellow travelers, closer to home
Tuxedo and white in sunset haze
Kitty warden of motel ways
Noami guards the neon night
From the interstate, feeling alive
(Beat drops fade, synths dissipate)
Goodnight, kitty queen of the night
Dreams will keep in morning light
