Big rig rolls past broken gate
Tires crunch on gravel plate
Speaker box hangs crooked wire
Static drinks the desert fire
Dead screen highway calls his name
Forgotten movies burn the same
Pedal steel cries through the glass
Summer traces don't need a pass
Concession stand roof caved in deep
Popcorn boxes dust to keep
Projector lens catches moon
Silver beetle afternoon
Dead screen highway calls his name
Forgotten movies burn the same
Pedal steel cries through the glass
Summer traces don't need a pass
Harmonica breathes from his dash
Match strikes bright a cigarette flash
Screen tears flutter like wounded birds
No dialogue no final words
Dead screen highway calls his name
Forgotten movies burn the same
Pedal steel cries through the glass
Summer traces don't need a pass
Reel spins out in empty air
County fair ground stripped and bare
He shifts gear and rolls on through
Movie magic bids adieu
Headlights sweep the blank white face
Time erased this holy place
But he carries every scene
Like a postcard never seen
Mile marker eats the rear view
Dawn paints sky in fractured blue
Camera kid would snap this frame
Trucker life no hall of fame
Dead screen highway calls his name
Forgotten movies burn the same
Pedal steel cries through the glass
Summer traces don't need a pass
Dead screen highway calls his name
Forgotten movies burn the same
Engine hums through sagebrush night
CB crackles low and white
