Tug kisses piazza stone
Tiber mud on travertine
Captain wipes salt alone
Espresso waits dawn divine
Cobblestone wake cuts quiet square
Iron hull breathes cold Roman air
No tourists strain or stare
Just cook and tugboat there
Propeller churns fountain sleep
Gargoyles watch gray hull creep
Deckhand tosses line deep
Baker wakes to knead reap
Cobblestone wake cuts quiet square
Iron hull breathes cold Roman air
No tourists strain or stare
Just cook and tugboat there
Galley smells diesel oil
Cornetti steam and boil
Captain checks his watch no turmoil
Same time tomorrow loyal
Fog lifts from Spanish Steps
Radio static no regrets
Grill cold bacon sweats
Day shift wakes cigarettes
Tug reverses stern to bow
Piazza swallows engine now
Cappuccino steam takes vow
Cook flips eggs takes a bow
Cobblestone wake cuts quiet square
Iron hull breathes cold Roman air
No tourists strain or stare
Just cook and tugboat there
Harbor swallows steel smoke
Cobblestones drink harbor yoke
Waitress pours a dirty joke
Tugboat's just a regular bloke
Cobblestone wake cuts quiet square
Iron hull breathes cold Roman air
No tourists strain or stare
Just cook and tugboat there
Diesel cough on marble
Morning pulls harbor home
