Track Insight / Lyrics
Fluorescent flicker counts the hour
Third rail hums its dormant power
Butt set clipped to copper line
Tone generator keeps the time

Each connection finds its land
No voice above, no voice below
Just signal where the silence goes
Punch-down tool clicks steady beat
Wool gloves warm on frozen seat
Cross-talk bleeds from abandoned pair
Coffee steam climbs tiled air
I splice the dark with steady hand
Each connection finds its land

Signal answers, clear and quiet
I splice the dark with steady hand
Each connection finds its land

Street noise rises, muffled stream
Another mile of sheath to pull
Another mile to make it full
Choir taught me how to listen
Silence is a note held long
Every break deserves its mending
Every wire finds its song
Dawn leaks down the stairwell grate
Shift ends where the cables wait
Logbook signed in pencil gray
Last splice holds the coming day
I splice the dark with steady hand
Each connection finds its land
No voice above, no voice below
Just signal where the silence goes
Just signal where the silence goes
Last tone f
