Track Insight / Lyrics
Greyhound dies at the canyon mouth
Boots hit dirt, heading due south
Mesa rises like a bone in light
Watchman stands through the fading night
[Pre-
Flashlight sweeps a nervous arc
Beam trembles near the sandstone mark
Battery coughs, the circuit thins
Darkness waits where the fracture begins
Watch beam fractures on the mesa face
Light unspools across the canyon space
Shutter steals the moment darkness splits
Dawn writes its name in pale mineral bits
Lens caps off, thumb finds the click
Salt flats glow, slick and thick
Shadows stretch from the watchman's pole
Light rope frays beyond his control
[Pre-
Flashlight sweeps a nervous arc
Beam trembles near the sandstone mark
Battery coughs, the circuit thins
Darkness waits where the fracture begins
Watch beam fractures on the mesa face
Light unspools across the canyon space
Shutter steals the moment darkness splits
Dawn writes its name in pale mineral bits
Filament shivers in the dry wind
Beam frays thin where the cliffs begin
No neon here, no city hum
Just geology and the coming drum
Watch beam fractures on the mesa face
Light unspools across the canyon space
Shutter steals the moment darkness splits
Dawn writes its name in pale mineral bits
My pack weighs light, my negatives few
Horizon swallows the greyhound view
Watchman's beam becomes a stitch
Pulling dark across the mesa switch
Watch beam fractures on the mesa face
Light unspools across the canyon space
Shutter steals the moment darkness splits
Dawn writes its name in pale mineral bits
Contact prints the fracture line
Light dissolves on mineral time
Shutter screams in silent bursts
Dawn cracks open, quenching thirsts
Watch beam fractures on the mesa face
Light unspools across the canyon space
Shutter steals the moment darkness splits
Dawn writes its name in pale mineral bits
Negative holds the broken beam
Mesa keeps what light cannot redeem
