Track Insight / Lyrics

Camera cold against my palm Film advances slow and calm Cypress knees drink amber light Spanish moss cuts through the night Bayou Kodachrome won't wait Fading fast before the late Porch rail holds the final frame Fireflies spell out your name Gator slides through mirrored glass Moments die and moments pass Shutter speed matches my breath Racing hard against the death Bayou Kodachrome won't wait Fading fast before the late Porch rail holds the final frame Fireflies spell out your name Twelve exposures left to burn Each one a lesson I won't learn Light meter reads the dying day Aperture lets the shadows play Wind carries the shutter sound Last roll spinning unwound No preview screen to check the take Just faith and chemistry awake Developer waits in tin can dark Fixed images leave their mark Silver halide catches soul Before the bayou swallows whole Bayou Kodachrome won't wait Fading fast before the late Porch rail holds the final frame Fireflies spell out your name Bus ticket folded in my coat Negatives develop, ghosts float Wooden porch releases me Bayou keeps what I set free Bayou Kodachrome won't wait Fading fast before the late Porch rail holds the final frame Fireflies spell out your name Bayou Kodachrome won't wait Last frame. Wind it tight. Dawn breaks. Drive all night.
