Track Insight / Lyrics

You walk the concrete floor Behind the heavy door Cold air and yellow light The basement holds the night Rewind the plastic reel Feel how the magnets feel Counting every step you take Before the brown ribbons break Old folders line the wall The ceiling feels too small You smell the damp old ink Your heavy eyelids blink Rewind the plastic reel Feel how the magnets feel Counting every step you take Before the brown ribbons break A humming metal box The rusty iron locks You hear the tape hiss low Where all the secrets go Rewind the plastic reel Feel how the magnets feel Counting every step you take Before the brown ribbons break The label's torn and gray The colors fade away Your boots hit stone and grit The steady rhythm hit Slowing down the spinning wheel Turning steel into a feel Breath is thick and air is thin Let the open space begin The exit sign is red The heavy words are said You leave the archive gloom And step out of the room Rewind the plastic reel Feel how the magnets feel Counting every step you take Before the brown ribbons break Click of the tape. Back to the light.
